    The Butler family lived in a place named Burnchurch. The original Butler was a minister of the Church of England.
    As a result of the Tithe System his haggard was the best stocked in the locality.
    When the famine of 1847-1848 came Finegan told me that a man named Dalton walked from Higginstown to Burnchurch - a distance of 12 miles for a half cwt of turnips. He said that his wife and family were at home starving.
