    (continued from previous page)
Canon Drennan P.P. visited old people in Balinaboola ( Baile na Buaile ) and they told him the following story. It shows how Irish survived in that district.
A certain servant arose one morning and his mistress prepared his breakfast for him. He had a wonderful appetite - and the mistress had a very poor one.
    She said to him

    Thabharfainn mo bhaile-sa
    Agus Baile na Buaile
Da mbeadh goile chomh maith agam
    Agus tá ag mo bhuacaill

    He said to her:-

    Dá n-eireothá ar maidin moc
    Agus seasa bo bhualadh
Do bheadh goile chomh maith agat
    Agus ta ag do bhuacaill
