    a little butter was used in the mixing of the cakes.
    Another common dinner was a pot of potatoes boiled in their skins and when the water would be boiling a large piece of salt-fish (steeped since the night before) would be placed on top of the potatoes and cooked with them. Over the fish when cooked milk would be poured.
