or seven young men from the Ballinameen area decided to explore the cave and find the treasure. One fine Sunday evening they started off, taking with them a few ropes and flash lamps.
They had heard startling stories of this cave and one of them tied one end of the rope about his body. Another lad did the same and the rest held the others at the top. When they went a hundred yards or so they saw an iron door. They opened it by force and found it to be a room. They got bones on the floor and on examining them they heard a queer cry. They noticed something in a corner of the room. They went as far as it, but then could see nothing. They came out to where they left the others, and it was very dark.
