    Hedge Schools in my district
    There was never a more harsh Government ruling in England than that in the 16t and 17th century. It forbade the Irish to have any National or Secondary Schools. Therefore some learned man gathered his flock of children in a sequestered spot under a hedge or behind a ditch, and in defiance of spies carried on his instructions.
    A Hedge School in the real sense was a hole excavated out of a bank hidden by a hedge. Here the school-master taught his pupils
