    Hedge Schools in my district in former times.
    After the Famine years the Irish pedantry completed their education in what is known as "Hedge Schools." I may, assert that there stands the ruins of an old "Hedge School" about quarter of a mile distant from this school in a glen known as. "Poll na h-alrona"???These schools as they may be called received their name from the green side on the sunny side of a quick set hedge in which the pedagogue or schoolmaster carried on the work
