    done by means of a threshing machine or a flail. When a machine is used five or six men are employed one of whom is working the machine, another unbinding the spears and the rest putting the sheaves into the machine.
    In this district corn is generally threshed with a flail, as the people are too poor to buy s threshing machine. The flail is made of strong hazel or ash. When it is used, tow or three sheaves are left on a barrel or bosc and given a few strokes of the flail.
