    Old customs in my district on St. Martin's Night
    St. Martin's night is celebrated on the 11th. November and numerous old religious customs are carried out on that night. Ages ago the old people practised many peculiar customs, but as time rolled on, these habits and customs became almost quite extinct, and at present the principal thing which is done in honor of St. Martin is: A fowl is killed and its blood is spilled on the threshold and then the Sign of the Cross is made thrice on the
