Local Fairs
To day indeed there are various places (of deep) where big fairs are held such as Dublin, Galway, and Ballinasloe where a fair lasts a week. Now this is very peculiar compared to olden times when people held fairs at farmers' houses, in fields, and at crossroads.
Almost every small village has a "fair green" and a man to look after it known as a Custom man, and on fair days he stands at a place called the(continues on next page)- Collector
