There was a man coming from a funeral one night and it was dark.

    (continued from previous page)
went off. The journey was long and put up at a farmer's house. 'Twas custom to have the hens in the Kitchen at night. He and his wife did not go to bed but were at the fire. The hens began to fight in the coup. The Cock told them to stop. They did not and he began to beat them and they stopped. The Cock said 'If Mc Cormac did that to his wife he would not be here to night. Mac understood him. In the morning both went on there journey and they came to where some men were planting trees. Mac told his wife to come off and she did. He pulled a young larel tree and began beating her with the branches and all she implored was for God's sake to save (her) to stop and she would never again interfere with him. She came home and they lived happily for ever after.
