  1. There were many marriage customs in my locality long ago. One custom was known as "Run - Aways", if the groom's parents were not satisfied with the bride, the bride and groom ran away or stayed in some neighbour's house for a few days. Then the parents went for the bride and groom to take them home. Then the parents would address the bride saying "Come or stay the wish is for you" If the bride and groom went with the parents, her and him were married. When the bride and groom were returning from the Chapel an old shoe was tied to back of the car for good luck. When the wedding is approaching the house the oldest of the family meets it with a bottle of Whiskey and gives it to the groom, who, after "treating" those present, breaks it on a stone.
