  1. In Mrs. McGillycuddy's field at Coolbane there was a three ringed fort with a cave in the centre of it. The fort is now levelled & in the cave were found many large flagstones. These flagstones were put in Mrs. McGillycuddy's kitchen at Coolbane and Mrs. McGillycuddy's kitchen at Coolroe. In Maurice Foley's field at Coolbane there was a one ringed fort and a man named Casey was buried there.
    When the people were digging the field where the fort was they found a lot of road underneath the ground. It was said that an old road was running from this to Cork, and that the
