"Creaschail was the horny block of bog-deal as taken from the bog. Sgolbs or splinters were cut from the block. These were used for lighting purposes. They were put on the pot-rack over the fire to dry. One member of the family held a splinter while another was doing a piece of work - My Grandfather still baskets.
