There was once a man who lived a few miles for Ballymote. One night he was returning from the house of a friend who lived at Gurteen. As he was passing by Gurteen Creamery, a man dressed in black stepped out and accompanied him. The man spoke to him a few times but he got no reply. He said, he nearly dropped dead with fright, when he understood that he was walking in the company of a ghost. He kept walking with him until he came to Ballymote Creamery and he then disappeared. The man continued his journey and when he reached his own home, he fell on the floor and fainted and he knew no more until the next morning.
