  1. One of the oldest stories that comes from the history of Ballinsodare is one of the Penal times.
    Not far from the village of Ballisodare there is a spot called the Cong. It got its name from a small chapel in which a priest was executed in the Penal times and this execution is supposed to have caused something miserable to come upon each family who inhabited the house near the Cong. This has proved correct so far as something mysterious has happened to
