- The great wind did a lot of damage in Carrowbunnawn. Long ago the houes were along the old road here. They were all tatched houses. The wind stripped the roofs off every house. The horns were blown off the cows. The people had to get out through the roofs because the fronts were by sand. The new church is built on a house that was buried in the sand. Cows were seen walking between the chimmneys of a house that was buried. Every cow had to be put out in the open because the would smother in the barns.
