For about 50 years back, the people come to the 'say', with the drugget skirts and the band of black velvet about 3 inches wide and placed about 2 inches above the hem, the bottom of the skirt bound with braid, A very heavy tan-coloured shawl, and a little head-shawl to match, a white muslin cap, seldom seen now, with the goffered frills around the face, the hair very smoothly parted in the middle, a little ripple, natural of course, down by the temples, and the hair twisted like a little rope round the ears, the two white strings of the cap, edged around the ends with fine Valencienne lace, and tied into a becoming bow under the chin.
