    were made from leather. The soles of those boots were put on with paste. Leather was made in Tralee about forty or fifty years ago inside at the tannery. It was made from hides and calf-skins and other skins of animals. Those skins used to be put into a pit down in the ground and there used to be lime put with them to take off the hair off of them.
