  1. Very long ago there was a fort in Beale. One very cold day the owner of the field was putting his cows in shelter, and he had no place into which to put them, so he said to himself he would put them into the fort. He put them in and as he was coming out the cows were driven out after him. He heard someone driving them out and he heard every stroke of a stick the fairies gave the cows and from that day e did not drive them into it again. Every dark night from that out he was afraid to
