sod each side of the redges. This is called 'coping.' Then my father ploughs the furrows and he makes holes in the ridges with the spade for the potatoes. When he has the holes made I drop the potatoes. Then he gets a shovel and he takes the mould out of the furrows and he puts it on the potatoes.
Wooden ploughs were used long ago but there are none used in this district now. The local people help one another to set the potatoes. They only help one another when the weather is bad or wet or when they are late with their crops.
