  2. The oaten meal was well with warm water and shaped into a round thin cake allowd to remain on the table for some time to firm. It was then placed on an upright stand in front of fire to bake. This was taken with milk and butter or it was taken for dinner with cabbage and bacon when potatoes became scarce at the end of the season.

    Raw potatoes, boiled potatoes, a little flour
    butter milk
    method
    peel and grate raw potatoes peel and mash boiled potatoes. Put grated potatoes into a lined bag and squeeze well. In some cases a heavy stone was left on bag for some hours to get away all moisture from potatoes when thoroughly squeezed the boiled mashed potatoes and a little flour were thoroughly mixed with them if necessary a little butter milk this mixture was
