  1. My townland is Camagh in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. There are five families in the townland. There are approximately twenty four people in it. Prior is the family name most common. Some of the houses are thatched and others slated. The townland is crooked and that is why it is called Camagh. There is one old man - James McKeon - over seventy but he doesn't know Irish. He can tell many English stories.
Houses were more numerous locally in former times. There are about five houses in ruins in the district. Some owners died and others emigrated to America.
Some of the land is hilly and some is boggy. There is one wood growing in the district. Hugh Gilheany owns it and on this account it is called Hugh Gilheany's wood. There are some small streams in it.
