  1. They gathered a large supply of peppermint. This is a sort of weed that grows in marshy places. They pulled all the leaves off and threw away the stems. Then they shook out all the leaves in a dry field. When it was dry they cut up all the leaves into very small pieces. Afterwards they put them in boxes and scored them away. This tea was very strong and sour. It took three teaspoonfulls of it to make a cup of tea. This tea was called peppermint tea.
