People say "Chuck! Chuck!" when calling hens. They say "Hurish! Hurish!" for the pigs, and "Bee! Bee!" for the turkeys.
When setting eggs some people say a prayer. If an egg is broken or the chicken does not come out in the first setting of the year people say that chickens will be unlucky with the person that year.
A mark is generally put on eggs before hatching, so that if another hen lays in the nest her eggs will be known and taken out.
I got this information from my father.
