    A Protestant gentleman owned the estate on which they are built. He made three attempts to find out the walk under ground, and he employed a large number of men each time, but he fell ill at each attempt. He tried to open the cave for the last time about fifteen years ago.
    His face was so disgfigured, that he never interfered with it again. His name was Mr Lawdir.
