  1. Marriag Customs
    People say that it is unlucky to get married in the mounth of May or in the mounth of August or on Tuesday. The most marriages take place durning Shrove. The old custom was that when a man was prepared to get married he would go to some neighbour or friend who was a good match-maker and tell him to get a good young girl for him and ask how much money she had and tell her that he was the best man in the parish and he had the finest farm in the country and he had money in the bank. Then he would bring the man to the girl's
