  1. Old Crafts
    Some years ago many crafts were carried on, but as it is now cheaper to buy such articles as were made most of these old crafts have died out but some are still carried on such as churning, spinning basket making, creel making, and thatching.
    To make a basket a hoop is got and hazel ribs are put from one side to the other and sally rods are worked in and through the ribs. These baskets are used for teaming potatoes. If a fancy basket is wanted the rods are boiled and the skin taken off.
    Creel making is still carried on, these creels are used for bringing home turf. First a straddle is put on the donkey then a creel is balanced on each side.
