    ninety-two years old. She knows no Irish at all.
    Some years ago there were more houses here than there are now. There are no traces of them left.
    Many people left this district during the Great Famine and afterwards. The land round here is not very good. It is mostly wooded country. At the back of one of our woods a great battle was once fought between a man named Sigerson and some other party.
