There was butter put on this bread also before it was eaten and it was generally eaten while warm. This was very heavy bread and was very suitable for working men.
Oaten-meal bread was not made as often as that of the Potato bread and Boxty bread. This was made by putting oat-meal into a basin and wetting it with water. This was then made into a cake and flattened out until it was about a quarter of an inch in thickness. This was baked in front of the fire standing against a flag or stone. This was also eaten with butter.
