Another toy the boys make is a birdcradle. They make a square frame of wood. Then they get four sally rods, about two feet long, and bend them at each side, then they tie them at the top. They get short sticks and weave the in and out, through the long ones, until it gets closed in at the top. Next they get a long sallyrod and put it in at the bottom of the cage. Then they a short forked stick, and set in on the sallyrod, so that the cradle will be up off the ground on one side. They get crumbs and put them inside, then the birds hop on the rod, and the cradle snaps, and the bird is caught inside.
