    and for their dinner they would have stirabout, and potatoes again for the supper, and a jug of butter-milk. In olden times when the people would be digging the potatoes out in the field they would get a plate of porridge, and a jug of butter-milk out in the field, and they would eat it abroad on the ridge.
    The people long ago ate nearly always oatmeal bread, and as they had no ovens long ago they would put the oatmeal cake standing by a flag in front of the fire. The people in olden times had no such things as cups. They used noggins instead.
