The old flax mill in Brislaughmore was built in the year 1824.

The old flax mill in Brislaughmore was built in the year 1824. by a man named Cochrane at that time the owner of Crislaughmore estate. The year is embeeded in the plaster of the wall. It was last worked by my grandfather (Joseph Walker) until the year 1888. Then they farmers around the district stopped the growing of flax owning to bad markets. It was never reopened again. The water that supplied the mill came a long distance starting in a small stream four or five miles away near the mountain and fed by long rivulets.
