There was an old man from Clontallagh and he had the toothache. His name was Charlie Mac Daid. One day he went to the forge and told the smith about his ailment.
The smith put a piece of string round the man's tooth and tied one end round the anvil.
Then he put the nippers into the fire, and when they were red he took them out and stuck them up at the man's face. The man jumped back and the tooth was hanging to the string.
