  1. During the War in Ireland from 1914-1918 there were men employed as coast watchers where Saint John's Point Light house now stands. One man named Charles O'Donnell who was said to have been drunk was standing on a point which was hanging out over the sea. He fell down among the rocks and was killed. There was no way of getting near him except by boat and when they arrived there he was dead. The remains were brought home and the doctor was sent for. When he examined his body he said that there was not a bone in his body but was broken. The point still stands out over the sea marking the place where this awful tragedy happened.
