    It is said on New Year’s day it is unlucky for a red haired person to enter a house first.
    It is considered unlucky for anyone to clean a byre on a Friday.
    If it rains on St. Swithin's day it will rain for forty days.
    It is believed that the weather for the twelve days after Christmas rules the weather for the twelve months of the year. The weather of each day is supposed to correspond with the weather of the month which it represents.
    In this district on May Eve flowers are gathered and thrown at the doors of the houses and out houses. It is protection against the fairies.
