    The door for to approach
    When I reached there, the head was there
    Like a wolf or a kangaroo.
    He thought to disperse the crowd
    But it was more than he could do.
    He turned over to myself
    And told me to be off out of that
    Says I "I do not see the reason
    I should leave the spot".
    He beckoned to a policeman
    Who was standing by
    And hauled me off to the barracks
    Where discontented there I lay.
    Until four soldiers were shoved in
    Which gave my heart great ease.
    We laughed, we smoked, we talked, we walked
    Until the evening late
    When I was shoved into a cell
    With a little brown bread to eat.
    And now by my hard labour
    I mean to be let here
