  1. About the year 1920 the castle of Castlecook was burned to the ground by the I.R.A. men. This castle belonged to Colonel Cooke-Collis, an English landlord who spent most of his time in Castlecook. Before the place set ablaze, the Colonel and his family were given only a few minutes to collect
