  1. There was an old school in the house where Pat Gilligan was previously living. A man named John Clarke lived there at that time. He was (edu) an educated man and therefore the people of the village went to him to be taught.
    They compensated him for his teaching by giving him sixpence a week or a bag of potatoes or some turf.
