- Long ago the people paid their rent to the Landlord. The Landlord for my area was Duc De Stackpool. The people paid their rent once a year, before the Christmas. The people would go to the house of the Landlord to pay their rent. Those that could not pay money would give potatoes or oats instead of money. The people that could not pay money or potatoes, would be evicted and their land would be taken from them. At that time there was free emigration. Those people that were evicted would imigrate to America.
