    When boys want tops and have not any money to buy them they go to the tailor...

    down the rod. When boys want guns for firing matches, they get pieces of boultry stick and take the pith out of them. Then they cut holes in the side of the stick. They get pieces of springs out of clocks and put them in, in the ends of the sticks. They bring the springs out again in the hole in the sides. They bend the spring and put them in again in the holes. They get a few matches and put them in beside the springs. When they pull the springs they hit the matches with such force that it shoots the matches.
