    people had no plates. Butter was used for nearly every meal. They had no tea but they used milk instead. Sometimes they used fish mostly salted herrings.
    When the potatoes were cooked the people sat round the pot. There was a basket left into the pot and the people peeled the potatoes into it. Very few people killed their own pigs as the bacon from foreign countries was cheaper.
