On November's night the young girls used to hang a head of cabbage behind the door and the first boy that would come in, his name would be your husbands name. On November's night also they would bring out a mirror and put it over a pond or a stream. When the moon would be shining and as many moons they saw reflecting on the water that is the number of years they would live.
