    Denis Browne lived in Claremorris where the convent is now. He lived in the time of the Penials Laws. He was high sheriff of Mayo. He used kill people and priests. He had his cart in the middle of the town where the pump is now. He used to hang the people from that cart.
    There are many old stories told about him. Once he was to have three men from Kilvive hung at twelve o clock the next
