    Castlebar from Belcarra, about a mile from the present school: part of the wall still remains and can be seen to the west of Connor's house. He taught the subjects taught in all other schools at the time: and the teaching of writing was an outstanding success. Many of his old pupils attended this cottage-school which remained in operation for some time. Some of these pupils are still alive.
    When just past middle age his health gave way, and he died over sixty years ago and is buried in ELmhall cemetry his grave is marked by a stone slab a few yards from the entrance gate. He had a large family all of whom went to America. One son specialised in woodwork and assisted in the roofing of Browne's house in Breghery. On the death of Curry, Mrs Curry a relative of Kilcourses in Guesdan, sold her husbands effects and emigrated to America with her children; the land was purchased by John Walsh
