- The Local Forge
There is one forge in this parish. The smiths are called Stauntons. Their people have been smiths for years. The forge is situated in the village of Cordarragh, in the parish of Aughagower, Co. Mayo. It is about three hundred yards from Cordarragh crossroads. There is a stream running by the forge. The forge has a galvanise roof. There is an ordinary door into the forge. There are two fireplaces in the forge. The bellows was made in Dublin. The implements the smith uses are, hammer, shoeing hammer, anvil, sledge, vice, rasp, punch and hoof knife. The smith shoes horses and asses. The smith - makes gates, harrows and a few ploughs. The tyres are put on wheels of carts(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
