A girl in the house in which he was hiding was suffering from "King's Itch". The Pretender seeing this gave her some of the water in which he shaved each day to rub on the afflicted part. This cured her and she told the mistress who immediately exclaimed that the Pretender was in the house. However he escaped to a house some distance away.
