  1. There is a field in Ballygreen called "Gurteen Thadhg." It is said that there was a beggar going around, Tim Beston. He had a small house made out of scraws and stones. He was seventy eight years old when he married a young girl who was only sixteen years old. Her name was Winnie Connors.

  2. There is a field in Ballygreen called "Gurt An Saidhúir." It is said that in olden times when there were kings in Ireland an old soldier had his house in that field. He was a great story teller and all the people of the district used come to his house at night to hear his stories and songs. There is a big stone in this downland and it is said that he was buried there. His name was "Murrough" of
