  1. There are five forges in this Parish, namely Mr Clarke's of Canningstown, Mr Gargan's of Seeorum, Mr Dowd's of Knockbride East, Mr Lynch of Turfad and Mr Clarke's of Tullywaltra. Three of theese families were blacksmiths many generations back.
    There is a cross road and a river at Mr Gargans, also at both Mr Clarkes.
    There is one special room for the blacksmith's work. The blacksmith's bellows is heart shaped. It is made of iron and leather. There is a pipe going from the bellows to the fire.
