    and blessed myself and started to pray. I looked around again but could see nothing. At that moment I thought of a blessed medal, I had in my pocket. I took it out and began to pray again. I seemed to get strong. I walked slowly on but but the step followed me whatever way I walked. When I had gone some distance the heavy step suddenly stopped and right in front of me a black bird about the size of a turkey appeared. It seemed to have very long legs and big claws and a small head. The wings were spread out. It rose up from the pass about one yard or less from me. It got up very slowly, the claws opening and closing very fiercely,, the wings spread, but no motion in them or no sound. When it was about my height from the ground it made a fierce drive with its beak at me. At that time I took off my cap and I blessed myself again. I took out the medal again and blessed myself with it. I felt myself
