  1. There are several forts in this locality. Their names are Denanny's formerly Herten's in Farrangarriff Hagan's fort, in Forthill John Maguire's in Drumshinny and Finnegan's in Gurteen. They are in view of each other. It is said in this locality that if a person stands in any fort he can see seven other forts from it. All the forts are circular in shape. People can enter any of them and cattle graze on them. Some years ago Mr. Denanny's had the forts on his land ploughed.
Lights used to be seen in Denanny's Fort and people were afraid to go near it while the lights were to be seen. John Brady known as Black John used to say that he saw the fairies coming from Hagan's Fort through his land and across a hill on my Father's land on their way. to Denneny's in the townland of Farngarriff.
